Leo Cedasero

Leo Cedasero is one of the many heroes in the community of Logan Square. He is Ecuadorian; he is a senior at Kelvyn Park High School. Leo is a laid back mellow type of guy. The thing that amazed me about Leo is how he has been volunteering since the end of his sophomore year in high school and helping his school and community.
The type of work that Leo does in his community is working with the youth and trying to improve school culture. Leo works with a group named VOYCE and he volunteers at LSNA. One of ways that they try to improve school culture is the school and VOYCE would partner up and take a big group of freshmen’s on a retreat to work on relationships between students and their teachers. Plus the freshmen’s learn ways you can solve conflicts without using violence. When I went last year Leo was a leader that led some of the relationship building exercise.
Now I’m going to tell you about Leo in general. When not volunteering or working with LSNA on his free time Leo likes to draw and write. Leo said, “That I would love to play sports but I have a busy schedule.’’ But I would say Leo is a big heart teen that wants to change the world and make it a better place.
Leo describes his community by saying, “Logan Square is a very diverse; I mean you get artist, and serious people, or you can walk to the blue line and see artistic people.’’ In the interview Leo said his hero is his Mother. One or the reasons why she is his hero is how she came from Ecuador to make a better living for her children. In my eyes Leo is a hero because volunteering and helping your community at a young age is hard and he wants to make a difference in the world. These days you have kids that just want to party and waste their lives, so when you see teenagers like Leo volunteering most of their time for a good cause that’s a hero. Leo said, “I’m not a hero, I’m a hero in training.’’
